High Tide announced the launch of a Delivery on Demand program at select Alberta Canna Cabana locations in response to new rules allowing private-sector retailers to offer delivery and e-commerce services.

Customers can place an order and receive delivery within two hours, or select any hourly time slot outside of the two-hour window between 12 and 8 p.m. High Tide expects to expand delivery services across its Alberta network in the next few weeks.

Cannabis delivery options vary throughout Canada depending on the province. Ontario temporarily allowed cannabis deliveries in response to COVID-19 back in April of 2020 and extended into permanent cannabis delivery this month. Alberta has had cannabis delivery available, but solely through Alberta Cannabis, a government-run online store. Alberta Cannabis has stopped carrying out deliveries to allow private-sector retailers to take over. High Tide is among the first Alberta retailers ready to begin deliveries today.

“In allowing private sector-led cannabis e-commerce and home delivery, Alberta has shown its commitment to helping regulated cannabis retailers effectively compete against and drive out illicit market operators,”  said Raj Grover, President and CEO of High Tide.  “By launching Delivery on Demand at Canna Cabana locations in Alberta, we can now offer our Cabana Club members in the province access to our unbeatable prices on cannabis and consumption accessories from the comfort of their own homes.”

High Tide also announced that its Canna Cabana store at 440 Erb Street West in Waterloo, Ontario, has started to sell adult-use cannabis. This marks the company’s 113th branded retail store across Canada.
