Harborside makes strategic investment in Loudpack

Harborside announced that it has completed a $5 million strategic investment in Loudpack, a company with extensive cultivation, manufacturing, processing, and distribution capacities. Loudpack will provide contract manufacturing services for Harborside’s branded products. The strategic investment is mutually beneficial, placing Loudpack’s brands – Kingpen, Loudpack, Dimebag, and Smokiez – on Harborside’s shelves for distribution.

Curaleaf acquires EMMAC as European platform

Curaleaf Holdings, Inc. signed a definitive agreement to acquire EMMAC Life Sciences Limited. As the largest vertically integrated independent cannabis company in Europe, EMMAC’s platform provides cultivation, EU-GMP processing, distribution, and R&D operations to medical cannabis markets in the UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. This company’s operational presence and partnerships throughout European Union countries, along with its Portugal-based cultivation facility, will become a platform for Curaleaf’s operations in the EU. EMMAC’s management team will continue leading Curaleaf’s new European presence. 

Substance to launch pre-rolls with mission to end mass incarceration

Substance will be releasing limited edition pre-rolls to support the fight to end mass incarceration. For each purchase, Substance will donate $8.46 per pack to local and national organizations that combat mass incarceration while forging paths to dignity for formerly incarcerated citizens. The project is a collaboration between Substance, Royal Key, and Moon Gazer Farms. Representing the last 8 minutes and 46 seconds of George Floyd’s life, the $8.46 donations support the company’s ethos of prioritizing people over profits. Substance pre-rolls will be offered at more than 70 legal cannabis retailers in California starting the week of March 8th.

Last Prisoner Project calls on President Biden to help federal cannabis prisoners

Last Prisoner Project (LPP) launched its ‘A Time To Heal’ advocacy campaign to request President Biden commute thousands of unjustified cannabis-related incarcerations. The organization also wants the president to provide grants to tens of thousands more who still struggle due to the collateral consequences of federal cannabis convictions. Still-incarcerated constituents are participating in the campaign, which offers a detailed framework to facilitate grant implementation. LPP’s plan calls on President Biden to use an executive order to create a “Presidential Clemency Board” that, if implemented, will review tens of thousands of American federal marijuana-related convictions. 

Oregon Cannabis Equity Act to appear in front of House Judiciary Committee

Oregon legislators are reviewing The Oregon Cannabis Equity Act (HB 3112) which calls for cannabis tax revenue to be allocated for direct investment in the people and communities most adversely affected by cannabis criminalization. Over 80 groups and individuals developed the bill, with State Rep. Ricki Ruiz one of the primary sponsors. Stay tuned.
