Let the good times roll…Clio Cannabis announced that Willie Nelson will be honored with the 2021 Clio Cannabis Lifetime Achievement Award. The annual awards honor people who’ve made a significant impact on cannabis culture and the industry, paving the way for creative growth, innovation, and inclusion. In addition to Nelson, this year’s recipients include Fab 5 Freddy, Mary Pryor, and Ophelia Chong. This year’s Gold and Grand Clio Cannabis Award winners will be revealed during the show, which will be streaming on Social Club TV beginning December 7, 2021.

Nelson was selected to receive the lifetime achievement award for obvious reasons. The singer has been smoking weed since 1954, has penned more than one iconic weed anthems, and is the only person who has ever smoked Snoop Dogg under the table. In conjunction with his decades as an outspoken advocate for cannabis legalization and the healing powers of the plant, his team is responsible for introducing cannabis and hemp-based wellness products like Willie’s Reserve and Willie’s Remedy and launching a new cannabis conference called Luck Summit: Planting the Seed.

Clio Cannabis Honorary Award: Fab 5 Freddy; Artist, Filmmaker and Advocate

Fab 5 Freddy, who brought hip-hop into the mainstream as the host of YO! MTV Raps!, will be recognized with the 2021 Clio Cannabis Honorary Award for doing the same with cannabis. His work to educate the public about cannabis prohibition includes the 2019 Netflix documentary, Grass is Greener and his collaboration with Curaleaf to create B-noble, a brand dedicated to raising awareness and funding to help those who have been penalized for nonviolent cannabis “crimes.”

Clio Cannabis Impact Award: Mary Pryor; Co-Founder, Cannaclusive and CMO, TONIC CBD/Tricolla Farms

Modern weed icons Mary Pryor and Ophelia Chong will both receive 2021 Clio Cannabis Impact Awards for working towards societal change through trailblazing cannabis initiatives. As the co-founder of Cannaclusive, Pryor is focused on inclusive marketing and business advocacy in the cannabis space and facilitating fair representation of minority cannabis consumers. Chong, the founder of Stock Pot Images and Asian Americans for Cannabis Education (AACE), is helping to shape the conversation around the legalization of cannabis and psilocybin.
